INDOCHINE HOUSE

Right in the heart of HCMC's hustle and bustle, take a step back in time. Walk through the door of Indochine House, and it's like you're back in the old days of Vietnam. Traditional products are tastefully displayed in surroundings reminiscent of an ancient noble Vietnamese family. Hanoi's past is depicted vividly through black and white photographs adorning the walls, mostly dating back to the nineteenth century.

The skillfully restored portrait paintings, which featured on the very first Vietnamese stamps, give an intriguing glimpse into Vietnam's history. Glazed ceramics from the pottery village of Bat Trang come in unique, exquisite designs and are presented on Chinese-style traditional dressers. The shop is dotted with quality, dark-wood furniture; authentic antique or reproduction, but all beautifully carved. Vietnamese culture is deeply imprinted throughout the products in Indochine House, as the name would suggest. Like the images of two phoenixes, a classic emblem, beautifully embroidered in silk on the King's pillow. Or petrhaps the high-class, hand-made silks, in an array of striking colours, which customers justifiably can't seem to get enough of.
